CricInfo title Blueberries, fuchsians and fizzy blue?
article Crikey Criker’s Andrew Davies talks to former Red Bull and McLaren driver Filippo Meulensteen about how the sport has evolved and how the colour blue came about.
The sport has been around for a long time, so to see it come out of nowhere is quite a revelation, Meulensensteen said.
It was not a deliberate decision to bring in a blueberry-flavored flavour, but it is a natural progression of things.
The fact that they have chosen to have blueberry as a flavour is quite remarkable.
Fulham and Chelsea forward Fabian Delph had a similar experience with a blue-flavour flavour in the past, MeULENSTEEN said.
“They were very keen to bring it out there, so when they did, it really was quite a surprise.
They said, ‘Well, why don’t you try it and see what happens?'”
Meulensteensons Chelsea team mate Frank Lampard, who played with Delph at the club, also took part in the blue-berry experiment.
“There are a lot of good, good things about it,” he said.
“I think it’s quite a fun flavour, it just depends on what you want to do with it.
But if you’re a team-mate and you want a little bit of a blue and fizzy flavour and you can do it, it works really well.
It’s just a nice addition to the team.”
